IMPORTANT SH+T: Aiming to Raise £10k for Toilet Twinning
2020 is our 30th anniversary year, to mark such a milestone we wanted to give something back to Toilet Twinning. They are a fantastic charity that are as passionate about toilets as we are! We were shocked to discover that 2 billion people still don’t have access to a clean, safe toilet – it was a no brainer for us to get involved!
What is Toilet Twinning?
Toilet Twinning is a charity that works with corporate companies, communities, schools, universities, churches and many more to improve sanitation in poor communities. They have numerous fundraising events throughout the year, but their focus is on encouraging individuals and groups to twin their own toilets, taps and bins. They’re currently aiming to twin as many toilets as possible before midnight on World Toilet Day (19th November).
We’re working together to achieve their goal of ‘flushing away poverty, one toilet at a time’. It’s been a challenging year for us all but it’s incomprehensible that 673 million people still defecate in the open as they don’t have access to a proper toilet.
We’ve started by twinning each of our Head Office and 6 Depot Staff Toilets, but our goal is to raise £10,000 over the next 12 months through a combination of donations, individual staff fundraising, team challenges and match-funding. How do I twin my toilet?
We’re grateful for any and all donations that we receive over the next 12 months so here is more about how you can help:
- Twin your toilet for £60, it could be in your home, your office or even your caravan toilet. This money will help to build a latrine in Zambia (our chosen country to support) and provide the local villagers with hygiene education so the improved sanitation is maintained.
- Twin multiple toilets for £240 . This will help to build a toilet block for a community in need.
- Support our fundraising events.
A loo is so much more than just somewhere to go to the toilet. It can help reduce the number of days children are off school due to sickness, reduce the attacks on women and children having to go out in the bushes in the dark and reduce the number of diseases that are spread by drinking polluted water.
